Airport Lounge Review: Singapore Changi Airport SilverKris Lounge Terminal 2

Welcome to my airport lounge of SKL Terminal 2!

The entrance to the SilverKris Lounges (Business and First Class lounges)

For this review, we will be focusing on the Business Class lounge.

Introduction

Making a trip here was kind of a last minute thing because initially I wanted to just hang around at the Terminal 3 lounge. I wasn't sure when would I be flying on business class out of Singapore, so why not just do it right? Besides one advantage about flying with SIA is that you are allowed to visit multiple lounges within a certain timeframe, I know certain countries you go to, they chop a stamp on your boarding pass and that's it, you can't visit others. That is why some travellers without airline status would purchase the Priority Pass to access some of the lounges before the flight. That comes in very handy especially for long haul flight in Economy Class. I have thought about purchasing it but I decided not to as I don't travel that often enough to use it. So without further ado, let's check out this lounge together. If you have any questions, do feel free to leave a comment below or on X (Twitter).

About this lounge

This lounge was reopened in October 2022 after months of closure due to the Covid period. As Singapore Airlines uses Terminal 2 for regional flights up to 3 and a half hours, this lounge is smaller and features less facilities than Terminal 3. Terminal 2 can host up to 246 passengers unlike Terminal 3's lounge that can host bout twice as passengers in seating capacity.

In addition, this lounge has not had a makeover for more than 10 years and therefore whoever visit this lounge might have to lower their expectation but still even though it’s outdated, there are still important amenities such as dining table with food and beverages. I walked around the lounge and it didn’t take long for me to reach the exit, of course my preference is with the T3 SKL lounge. It would be great if SQ decides to give this lounge an upgrade, if that happens SQ will have 2 SilverKris Business Class lounges to look forward to visit.

This Lounge is open 24 hours daily.

This lounge can be accessed by PPS Club members flying in any SIA cabin class, Business Class passengers on either SIA or Star Alliance flight. For First Class passenger + 1 guest on either SIA and Star Alliance flight are also allow in this lounge.

Do note that for Krisflyer Gold and Star Alliance Gold members flying on Economy and Premium Economy Class cannot access to this lounge, instead they can use the lounge at the KrisFlyer Gold Lounges available in Terminal 2 and 3.

No time restriction for travellers provided you have a valid boarding pass. You can also visit the other lounge at Terminal 2 if you have the time. Do note: the airport staff scancodes your boarding pass before allowing you to enter.

Location of the lounge

The lounge is located on the 3rd level. Once you clear immigration, turn left and follow the signboard leading you to the lounge. The walk to the lounge should not take more than 5 minutes. Once you are on the 3rd floor, you'll see the entrance to the DBS Asia Treasures lounge. Continue pass that that lounge, you will see Krisflyer Gold Lounge and continue all the way to the end of the corridor, will be the SilverKris Lounge of both First (right side) and Business class (Left side).

Facilities

- Showers
- Buffet Service
- Complimentary WiFi
- low dining tables with chairs and bar-style high chairs option
- Play room (For kids)

Photos of the lounge

Somehow this lounge reminds me of Lima's Sumaq lounge I visited a year ago. The interior is similar in certain ways. However this lounge doesn't have business centre or sleeping area. Like mentioned before, this lounge seems to catered for the short-medium routes passengers departing from Terminal 2.

The seating area just besides the buffet.

Bar-style high chairs are suitable for those wish to eat and go.

The dining area offers a good variety of Asian food.

Another view of the dining area.

A lot of TWG tea selection to choose from.

The beverage section offers both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

There is not much privacy in this seating area.

However, usb charging and universal ports are available.

This is the playroom.

I sat at this quiet section of the lounge to enjoy my breakfast part 2.

As I wasn't hungry, I picked a few random snacks before leaving.

For the shower, you can check out the link below (Mainlymiles' review) for more information.

I spent about 15 minutes in the lounge before heading over to the gate, for a more detailed review on this lounge, you can check out over here. Mainlymiles.com features comprehensive reviews, you should check them out.

My rating:

Location: 2/5
Staff Service: 5/5
Lounge Interior: 3/5
Selection of Food & Beverages: 5/5
WiFi Connection: 5/5
Shower: 3/5 (Separate showers for male and female) and toilet and showers are in separate areas - not convenient.
Resting area: 0/5 (No sleeping area)
Overall rating: 23/35
Percentage: 65%

Conclusion

There is nothing much to be excited about with this lounge as you can see from the photos. It is more for passengers to come for a short while, grab a bit and relax for a bit before heading to the gate. Between this and Terminal 3 SilverKris Business Class Lounge, the clear winner has to be terminal 3 for it has a few facilities that this lounge doesn't have such as sleeping area, private shower rooms with attached toilet, no business dedicated workspace and a bar. Overall I find the lounge to be ok, though it is dated looking and  smaller in size compare to T3 SKL lounge but at least a good variety of food was available which is one of the most important things to me when visiting a lounge.

If you have time, do head over to terminal 3 to use the lounge instead of this one. Like other reviewers, we agree that that lounge is superior in almost every aspect. If you are in need for a long rest or have to get some work done, that is the lounge to be at. However if you find Terminal 3 lounge too crowded, hopping over to this one may not be a bad idea.

Will SIA upgrade this lounge in the near future? Not that I know of but I certainly hope they do. However, Terminal 5 is in progress right now, I suspect the airline is focusing on that so for now Terminal 2 lounge is what it is.

Hope you enjoy this review!
