Welcome to my 2nd part of my trip report with Sky Airlines!
My ride: CC-AZP
This is my connecting flight at Santiago SCL and what I appreciate about flying with this airline is that I was able to check in my luggage all the way to Sao Paulo so all I need to do is make my way to the terminal 2 which hosts both regional and international flights. Among the airports in South America, this airport has to be one of the top ones in this region and after experiencing terminal 1 in both arrival and departure, I enjoyed my time over here and you should not have any issue navigating.
So for this part 2, I will focus on the 2nd flight and looking forward to some good view along the way. I was fortunate that for all my flights so far in South America, the weather had been great and flights departing on time and arriving early so did this flight ruin the good record? Do read on to find out!
So without further ado, let's begin this part 2 of my Sky Airlines Experience!
Connection at Santiago SCL Airport (Terminal 2)
It was quite crowded at this time as there were many departures happening around in the mid-afternoon.
This is LATAM's premium check-in area.
LATAM's check in area for the economy class passengers.

This is Sky Airline's check-in area.
Comparing this terminal to terminal 1, this is newer.
Qanta's check-in desk - I hope to fly with this airline from SYD-SCL route in the near future.
The overview of the departure hall (landside)
There is also a dedicated room for elderly and wheelchair bound passengers.
Once I was done exploring, I made my way to the security check on route to airside.
Security check and immigration process took around 20 minutes to clear.
This is the departure hall (airside).
Since I had no lounge access, I made my way to this Asian foodcourt and ordered myself a Singaporean meal, this is the Mee Goreng (South East Asia's version of Fried Noodles) and it tasted very different from the Asian version.
Once my stomach was satisfied, I went to explore the gate area.
The structure of the terminal at some parts, allow some light to come in. There are certain spots that allow aviation photograhy.
Due to the length of the terminal, travellators are available.
This is one of the duty-free shops in Terminal 2.
Overall, I find this terminal quite a pleasant one to be in.
This is KLM's Boeing 777-200ER being prepared for departure to Buenos Aires (KL702) and from there, it will fly home to Amsterdam.
This is Copa Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 and I have flown on this aircraft type a couple of years ago. You can check out the trip report over here.
The unique design of the terminal 2 structure.
This vehicle helps the airport staff to do cleaning at hard to reach areas to ensure the terminal is kept in tip-top condition.
There are duty free shops at cafes along this part of the airside.
Juan Valdez's Cafe is well known for its coffee.
My previous visit in this terminal 1, my flight departed from gate C1/C3 on LATAM's Boeing 787-8 flight from this airport to Lima. You can check out that trip report over here.
This is the sitting area near the gate C1/C3.
A lot of natural light in this terminal allows the airport to save a bit of electricity.
As gate C1 and C3 are operated by 2 Sky Airlines flight, the ground staff came around to check to ensure we don't board the wrong flight. My flight was departing from gate C3.
Time to go! Adios Santiago!
For this flight, I would be flying on a different A320neo. For CC-DBF (My previous flight), that aircraft was on its way to Castro.
Boarding an older A320neo aircraft, CC-AZP!
My ride: CC-AZP
Can you spot the odd one out?
British Airways Boeing 787-9 being prepared for departure to London Heathrow. When I went closer to see the aircraft, I realized its the same aircraft that flew my mum and myself from London Heathrow to Singapore on BA15 months ago. This is G-ZBKC!
At this point of time, the aircraft was resting. CC-AZP did a domestic flight earlier and arrived around 1109 hours from Calama (CJC).
CC-AZG is the aircraft linked to gate C1 and it was bound for Lima (LIM).

My inflight experience
Although the aircraft was parked at the gate, the cabin and flight crew arrived quite late at the gate. I suspected they had just arrived not too long ago from another flight. This means a delay in our departure. Not a surprise when the announcement was made in regards with our delayed departure. After the doors was closed, I was absolutely delighted because the middle seat (seat beside mine) remained vacant that means more legroom space for both the aisle seatmate and myself.
We pushed back about 18 minutes after our schedule departure. For this flight, we have a good mix of Brazilian and Chilean passengers with a small fraction of other foreigners including myself in the mix. English and Spanish announcements were made throughout the flight. Our aircraft took off around 1449 and it took a while before our landing gear went up, Most likely is due to the heat of the landing gear, sometimes its better to let it cool off for a short while before retracting it.
After departure, it took longer than usual before the seat belt sign was turned off as we had to fly over the Andres Mountain. As long as the flight path involves a cross over in this mountainous terrain, everyone has to be seated including the cabin crew due to potential clear air turbulence which may be hard to detect on the aircraft's radar. On my LATAM flight from Buenos Aires to Santiago, all of us were made to be seated before we started crossing over this area. Whatever it is, do choose a window seat and hope it is clear day so that you can enjoy a spectacular view of the snowy mountains!
Once we were cleared of the mountains, the seat belt sign was turned off and inflight service began. It was a surprise that the crew came around distributing a complimentary sandwich and a choice of beverage for each passenger! Mind you, this is a low cost carrier! I wonder whether they did this because of the late departure but whatever it is this is very well appreciated. After the complimentary sandwich and beveraged were served, the cabin crew came around the cabin to offer the BOB service (Buy On Board) and not a surprise that only a few ordered something else from the menu. For the flight, there was some bumps along the way but for my arrival in Sao Paulo unlike my last trip (BOA's flight from VVI-GRU), it was a smooth affair although there were thunderstorm scattered around the city area. The good thing about it is all of us sitting by the window were greeted by some spectacular views. Even my seat mate asked me to help him and his friend to snap some photos for them and I was more than happy to do so.
Although we departed late, the pilots made up for the loss time by flying slightly faster than probably managed to deviate a bit to get us there on time. We touched down about 4 minutes ahead of schedule on runway 10R and for that, I have to give them all the credits for it. It is great to be back at this airport.
After arrival, we had to wait at the intersection of runway 10L as we had to wait for the aircraft departing at this runway to clear before we were allowed to cross and then taxi to our gate at terminal 2.
The flight experience on this flight was certainly more memorable than the previous flight with the highlight being the complimentary snack and beverage service, vacant middle seat and the spectacular view throughout the flight .
Welcome on board!
Just like the other aircraft, CC-DBF, the cabin interior and configuration is identical.
Cabin photos
The front few rows offered the headrest and I like to try this seat the next time I fly with this airline.
These seats also offer slightly better legroom space.
While for the standard seat, no headrest and legroom space is tighter.
It would have been nice to have the emergency row seat.
Here is my seat, 16F.
The rear view of the aircraft
A few more photos of these seats
For the 3 and a half hours flight on these seats, the seat was bearable but considering that the middle seat remained vacant, I had a bit more legroom space to stretch out, so no complaints from me.

Cabin view
This is the emergency row seat with the spacious legroom space.
These seats are definitely recommended for tall people.
The standard seats
Between this and Jetsmart's economy class cabin, this airline is a winner for me due to the presence of the USB charging port.
One last look before exiting the aircraft.
Lavatory
Basin on this aircraft is slightly smaller than the standard size.
Bassinet is available.
The space inside this lavatory is average size.
More photos of the seat
I had 2 windows for myself.
The middle seat remaining vacant was a bonus for us.

Another Sky Airlines A320neo in sight.
Without the headrest, the seat was still reasonably comfortable.
Sky Airline's logo is pretty cool, do you agree?
The view of the seats opposite the aisle.
Tight legroom space

Foldable tray table
Slim seats is the main reason why more seats can be fitted onto this aircraft.
What's provided for each passenger?
Sandwich and a limited choice of beverage - I am definitely satisfied.
This sandwich consists of ham and it is certainly a good snack for this 3 hours flight.
Window view photos

The winglet of the A320 family featuring Sky's green colour livery.
Soon we were on the taxiway.
Passing by the terminal 1 building.
This Jetsmart A320 was parked here for maintenance work.
We passed by an American Airlines Boeing 777-300ER.
These former Wizzair A320neo aircraft are planned to join Jetsmart's fleet. Jetsmart and Wizzair are managed by the Indigo group so the aircraft are interchangable within the group. (December 2025 update)
A fleet of aircraft from Jetsmart and Sky Airlines resting and probably waiting for their next assignment.
This is runway 17R and we started rolling.
Goodbye Santiago (Chile), until next time!
Off we go! It was a bittersweet memory for me on this Chilean trip.
I will certainly miss the view of the mountains.
Take off was slightly bumpy.
However the flying condition improved as we continued climbing above flight level 100. (10,000 feet).
Making a turn as we were heading towards Andre mountains.
The view of the Andres mountains in sight.
Unfortunately it was cloudy as the view of the mountains was covered.
We managed to catch a glimpse of the mountain.
The ride was smooth at this point.
We flew through some cloudys which was a bit shakey at this point.
Better weather when we were not far from our destination.
We started our descent and made a few turns.
Weather looks good at this point.
The light was getting dark as we were arriving around evening time.
I have to say this 3 hour plus flight went past quite fast.
Turns like this allow us to take in some scenic view.
The weather looks good right?
Not so much when we were flying closer to the city.
Fortunately for us, we were not on the same path with the stormy clouds.
Sometimes this sort of weather brings out some spectacular view for us.
Part of the city was raining very heavily.
This is one of my favourite photos on this flight.
Welcome to the city of Sao Paulo!
Our aircraft was in the landing configuration as we were ready for landing.
This city is easily recognised by the many tall buildings.
Few more seconds to touch down.
The approach and landing was a smooth affair.
Do you know: the pilot-in-command (PIC) will disengage the autopilot around 500 feet and hand fly the landing. Autolanding is possible but for most of the time the pilot does the landing.
So for those sitting at the front few rows near the cockpit, you may hear a couple of beeping beeping sound coming from the cockpit when the aircraft is close to landing to the runway, that is the autopilot disengage sound warning.
We touched down with the spoilers and reverse thrust deployed.
After exiting runway 10R, we had to wait at the holding point of runway 10L before being allowed to continue our taxi once runway 10L was cleared of aircraft. At that point of time, runway 10L was used for departure and 10R used for arrival.
The taxi ride to our gate took about 10 minutes.
We passed by a remote parking consists of some international airlines parking there until departure time when they are towed to the assigned gates at terminal 3.
We passed by a LATAM's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
Passing by a Qatar Airways Airbus A350-1000, an aircraft type I would be flying on the last leg of this flying adventure, stay tuned for it!
This is the termianl 3 apron
I spotted a special livery of Delta Airlines! Do you recognise that livery?
This is Delta's Airlines Airbus A330-900neo in the TEAM USA special scheme.
This part of terminal 3 is undergoing construction for expansion.
These aircraft are using the parking lots at the currently constructed building to park temporary until the flight departure time when they will be likely towed to their assigned gates.
We have entered the terminal 2 apron.
I was lucky to spot one of the special tail liveries of LATAM. This tail livery represents Brazil.
The Airport Control Tower building
We were parked next to the terminal 2 building.
For this aircraft and the flight/cabin crew, they would return to Santiago Chile about an hour's time. Thanks for the memories, CC-AZP!
My Flight Summary
The wifi connection allows 2 hours of complimentary usage but with slower speed, that's good enough. The good news is once the session ends, you are able to start a new one without having to wait for the 24 hours to pass.
Welcome to Sao Paulo Guarulhos International Airport!
As we were parked near to the main concourse, the walk to the immigration counters didn't take long.
Immigration check took around 20 minutes as there were a few other flights arriving around the same time as ours but fortunately I managed to queue up before the crowd came in.
Once I picked up my luggage, I made my way out but and for entry to Brazil from overseas, we have to undergo luggage and backpack screening before given the green light to enter the country.
Once the security check was done, I was at the arrival hall of terminal 2.
I made my way to the exit doors.
I walked over to the coach area where I took the hotel shuttle bus to the hotel.
This is the waiting area.
The coach parking lot
Several hotel shuttle vehicles arrived to drop off and pick up passengers at this point.
If you are coming in to the airport for departure, this is the way to the terminal 2. To get to terminal 1, you can take the shuttle bus service as for terminal 3, shuttle service is available and you can also walk there. The walk takes around 15 minutes from the departure hall, just follow the signboard.
I was the only passenger on board this hotel shuttle.
That's all folks!

Conclusion
All 3 airlines in Chile are reliable with 2 being the low cost carriers (Jetsmart and Sky Airlines) and the full service airline (LATAM). Apart from Jetsmart and the website, I had no issues with any of the airlines whether its on ground service or inflight, it's like flying with any airlines elsewhere. For non-Spanish speakers like myself, it is better to have a translating app just in case the ground staff can't understand English.
The second flight with Sky Airlines was certainly better with the biggest surprise to me was the complimentary snack and beverage and after the flight, I did a brief check about this, the airlines does offer them on longer sectors (possibly on routes that are 2 hours and longer). So this airline gets my vote ahead of Jetsmart. For the Jetsmart Argentina flight I flew earlier on the 3 and a half hours flight from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia, no complimentary snack and beverage service was offered. So for the Jetsmart and Sky Airlines comparision, which do I prefer? Sky Airlines gets my vote for the complimentary snack/beverages, the availability of the USB charging port and the better website it offers.
Travelling within Chile, you have the choice of these 3 airlines. Which airlines to choose? It depends on you. For more comfort, LATAM is the option with premium economy class offered on the Airbus narrow-body and for regional routes within South America, you might be able to fly on the airline's Boeing 787 for even better comfort. From 2027 onwards, Premium Economy Class cabin will be fitted on the 787 fleet and that is something to look forward to. While for the low cost carriers, Jetsmart's website can be a headache, but you can try switching off the phone's location and Wifi or use the VPN to access it, however if this doesn't work for you then check out Sky airlines which is my preferrred low cost carrier. In the end, go for the flight schedule that suits you and be prepared for any flight changes especially if you book many weeks in advance. If you have any questions about travelling with South American airlines, feel free to drop me an email or leave a comment below. I'll be more than happy to help!
Hope you enjoyed my trip report and have a good one!
