Airport Lounge Review: Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge @ Bangkok

Welcome to my SilverKris Bangkok Lounge Review!

Introduction

Since I was flying with Singapore Airlines, I decided to visit this lounge the last before my flight. The other lounges I visited were Turkish Airlines, EVA Air and Thai Airways. So which lounge is the best in my opinion? I will reveal the answer in my SQ trip report coming up next.

A few months before this flight, I found a good airfare to fly on SQ's J class on the BKK-SIN route and the chance to fly the airline's 787-10 Dreamliner. Booking on SQ’s business class, regardless of the fare type, it grants you lounge access and hopefully that remains as it is. I heard a lot of positive comments on this lounge, so let me share with you my experience on this visit. Without further ado, let’s begin this lounge review.

Location of the lounge

3rd Floor, Concourse D (opposite Gate D7)
Operating hours: 0630 - 2300

About the lounge

This lounge first opened in May 2017 but due to pandemic that stuck the world in 2020, this lounge was closed some time after the 2nd quarter of the year but re-opened in September 2022 when travelling was back to normal. During the closure, the airline took the opportunity to upgrade the interior as the lounge was to relocate from concourse A to D. So when the upgraded lounge was opened in 2022, passengers on all 4 daily flights can enjoy the facilities at this lounge or visit any of the airlines in the same alliance to relax before departure.

Who can access this lounge?

Passengers flying on either on a Singapore Airlines or Star Alliance flight in

- First Class (can bring in one guest)
- Business Class
- Premium Economy or Economy Class with status with Singapore Airlines (PPS Club, Krisflyer or Star Alliance Gold) (can bring in one guest)

Passenger with Velocity Platinum or Gold or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Gold status can also access the lounge regardless what class one is flying on.

Facilities/Amenities

- Productivity Pods
- Bar
- Wifi
- Buffet area with dining tables
-Power outlets can be found throughout the lounge (universal and type-A outlets)
- Different types of seats

Entrance to the lounge

There was a nice staff welcoming me into the lounge, scan my pass and reminded me of my flight departure time before I made my way in.

I am certainly impressed with the interior.

Fortunately I managed to grab a seat before the lounge got crowded.

There are also some seats by the window which provides slightly more privacy than the opened space area.

A little history about the airline.

An impressive range of beverages and food at the buffet area.

You can order either mocktails or cocktails at the bar.

The seats with a coffee table at the open space area.

Another view of the open space area.

This is the productivity pod

I was able to grab a spot during my time there.

This way to the toilet.

At this point, the lounge was crowded.

Luckily for Star Alliance travellers, they can opt for other lounges if they can't find a seat.

Choices of juice were offered.

I had a glass of ice tea.

The selection of food consists of mostly Asian cuisine.

The view of the buffet and bar counter.

There are also light snacks available if one is not very hungry.

Some warm snacks to enjoy.

The fridge contained cold beverages and plates of fruits.

Self service beer taps.

I enjoyed a mixture of traditional and western dessert.

I enjoyed a glass of Asahi beer.

I managed to grab some work done while enjoying my dessert.

The walk from the lounge to the gate took around 5 minutes.

Somehow I have question marks over the design of this airport. Not a fan for sure.

Stay tuned for my next trip report!

My ratings

Location of the lounge: 5/5
Staff Service: 5/5
Lounge Interior: 5/5
Selection of Food & Beverages: 5/5

Seating area: 5/5
Facilities/Amenities: 4/5
Overall rating: 34/35

Conclusion

Although the lounge is small and can be overcrowded at times, it is a nice and relaxing place to chill, out and get one work done. What I like about this lounge is the strong wifi connection and the good selection of good quality food and beverages. The lounge may be limited in terms of facilities and amenities but you can get most of them at Changi Airport if you are on transit. If you are flying on this short 2 hours flight, I don't think facilities such as fitness centre, massage parlour and showers are important. Personally if I have to clear my work, I choose this lounge especially for the productivity pod but if I like to relax, I prefer the EVA air lounge as it is less crowded and the furturistic interior which makes me feel like I am at a space centre waiting to board a rocket to somewhere. More on this in my EVA Air lounge review.

Hope you find this review useful.

Have a good one!
