Hotel Review: The Lantern Hatyai Hotel

Welcome to my hotel review at Hat Yai, Thailand!

Introduction

My trip to Hat Yai is because of my desire to fly the Embraer ERJ-190-E2 aircraft and I chose this location as it is one of the cities that I am curious about and I have known about this city since the days when Thai Airways flew their Airbus A300-600R regularly on Hat Yai-Singapore route many years ago. At this is a small city, there were a limited number of hotels and this hotel came into my mind after seeing photos of it, the unique traditional Asian type of shophouse style hotel is exactly what I need to take a break from the bustling scenery in my country, Singapore. So without further ado, let's take a closer look at this hotel and if you visit this city, this guide can help you decide whether this hotel suits you or not.

About the hotel

This 3-star hotel has 14 rooms and is located in the heart of Hat Yai Downtown District

The address is Nipatuthit 2 Road 166/4, Hat Yai, Thailand and you can access the hotel's website over here. (You may have to switch off your VPN in order to access it)

You can click here for the link to the map.

Location of the hotel

The ride from the airport to the hotel takes about 15 to 20 minutes depending on the traffic. You can easily take a local taxi or use the Grab app for transport to the hotel.

Amenities offered for the hotel guests

- Working Desk
-2 bottles of water

Photos of the room

This is the Deluxe Double Room.

With a working table and good wifi connection, I was able to get some work done.

The size of the room is adequate for a couple, in my opinion.

Storage space for your luggage and clothings

There is even a bench placed against the wall. For the window view, nothing much to see except the opposite building.

Small amount of snacks and beverages are available for the guests.

TV with satellite channels

This is one of the very few hotels that provides multiple charging ports including USB.

This dustbin is electronically controlled as the sensor on the bin detects motion and once it does, it will open the lid and close when there is no hand movement after a few seconds.

My ratings

Location: 9/10
Hotel Staff: 8/10
Hotel Room Ambiance: 8/10 (lack of window therefore minus 2 points)
Cleanliness: 10/10
Bed Comfort: 10/10
Shower: 10/10
Value for $$: 10/10
Overall Rating: 65/70
Percentage: 92%

Conclusion

Although I was given a room with limited view, I find it to be comfortable and adequate for my few nights of stay. If window view is important, you need to pay more for it and perhaps the suite may be better. The price is reasonable from the time I booked, you can check out more on this either at the hotel’s website or 3rd party apps. For me since this trip was only for a few nights, I decided to go for the cheaper option.
What I really like about this hotel is the good location (walking distance to a lot of good restaurants), the comfortable bed and good Wifi connection. Do note that breakfast is not provided but there is a cafe at the first floor. However, there are good food nearby with the help of goggle so you don't have to worry about it. Do remember to request for a room with window but it can be a bit noisy due to how close the hotel is to the road but during my stay in my room, I had no noise issue.

Hope you find the review useful.

Have a good one!
